We expound so much energy talking about mental health: daily rituals, self care, feel good playlists. But how often do we talk about actual, diagnosed mental illness? ⠀ We don’t. And you know why? I can’t yoga away my ADHD. I can’t “self love” away my clinical depression. My anxiety doesn’t give a FUCK about candles and scents. Mental illness isn’t pretty and we still live with the stigma of mental illness. ⠀ Mental illness can be painful, often confusing and debilitating. So give yourself a fucking break. Give each other a break.
