Body Positivity

It’s 2021. I’m Not Explaining Fat Phobia to You.

*This is a repost from my Medium page, check it out when you get a chance Fat is not new. In fact, I would wager, that no current state of humanity is new; there have always been LGBTQ people, nonbinary people, tall people, short people, and yes, fat people. In …

[Like, share, tag a mate who may need to hear this [Like, share, tag a mate who may need to hear this] ⠀ [TW: Mental Illness] Let’s talk about mental illness. No seriously, let’s talk about it. We expound so much energy talking about mental health: daily rituals, self care, feel good playlists. But how often do we talk about actual, diagnosed mental illness? ⠀ We don’t. And you know why? I can’t yoga away my ADHD. I can’t “self love” away my clinical depression. My anxiety doesn’t give a FUCK about candles and scents. Mental illness isn’t pretty and we still live with the stigma of mental illness. ⠀ Mental illness can be painful, often confusing and debilitating. So give yourself a fucking break. Give each other a break. And for the love of God, do NOT tell your mentally ill friends to try “a daily walk.” 😭😅🥴
“You hate the law, n!gga break it, I don't care, “You hate the law, n!gga break it, I don't care, and when ya get caught, remember that I don't care” ⠀ Bet you can’t tell me the name of the song that lyric comes from in the comments (there’s a hint in my geotag) 😜
💕SAVE THIS POST, and next time you’re dealing 💕SAVE THIS POST, and next time you’re dealing with rejection, refer back to it. It will help!!!💕 ⠀ Ok, let’s talk about how to deal with that raggedy b*tch rejection. ⠀ Rejection is inevitable. And that is doubly so if you’re pursuing your passion as a career. I know rejection very well; from pitching my clients in PR to pitching editors to trying to get my message out there on social media. For ME, rejection is a daily occurrence. So how do I deal with it? ⠀ Here are the 3 ways I deal with rejection: ⠀ 1. I know It’s NOT personal: I disconnect my personal feelings from the rejection. They didn’t reject ME. It could have been bad timing, lack of budget, not the right fit. It’s. Not. Personal. 2. I believe rejection is just a re-alignment for something better: Anytime I’ve ever been rejected, and kept going? Something better came along. 3. I ask for feedback: Our visceral response to rejection is to protect our ego and get mad. Girl, trust me, I’ve done it. But, now I ask for feedback. How can I learn from this? This has also helped me build relationships, as it continues the conversation. ⠀ Rejection f*cking sucks. I know. But it’s ok, because it’s not forever. Live with it. But don’t let it live in you, K? 😘
Social media can be a cruel, cut-throat, shitty pl Social media can be a cruel, cut-throat, shitty place with shitty people and their shitty opinions. But think about it like this: you putting yourself out there could be the spark someone else needs to grow to love themselves. And to me, that makes it worth it. ✨Follow for more confidence, self love and body positivity.
